How to Create Your Personal Website Using Wix

Wix is one of my favorite. Hence suggesting same for beginners

Step 1: Sign Up for Wix

1. Go to Wix.com:

• Open your browser and go to Wix.com.

• Sign Up:

• Click on the "Get Started" or "Sign Up" button.

• You can sign up using your email, Google account, or Facebook account.

• Enter your details and create a password to set up your Wix account. "STEP 2 and 3 are Replaced by AI options also. Now you can brief your needs to AI bot and your dream site will be ready within few clicks by AI bot ."
  

Step 2: Choose a Template

1. Template Selection:

• After signing up, you will be prompted to choose a template. Wix offers a variety of templates for different types of websites (e.g., personal, business, portfolio).

1. Browse Templates:

• Browse through the categories or use the search bar to find a template that fits your needs.

1. Select a Template:

• Once you find a template you like, click on it to view more details.

• Click “Edit” to start customizing.

Step 3: Customize Your Template

1. Wix Editor:

• You will be directed to the Wix Editor where you can customize your chosen template.

1. Add Elements:

• Use the toolbar on the left to add elements like text, images, videos, and more. Drag and drop them onto your page.

• Text: Click on "Add" > "Text" to insert headings, paragraphs, and other text elements.

• Images: Click on "Add" > "Image" to upload images from your computer or use free images provided by Wix.

• Galleries: Click on "Add" > "Gallery" to add image galleries.

• Videos: Click on "Add" > "Video" to embed videos from YouTube, Vimeo, or upload your own.

1. Edit Elements:

• Click on any element to edit its properties. You can change the font, color, size, and more.

1. Pages:

• Manage your pages by clicking on the “Menus & Pages” icon on the left toolbar. You can add new pages, reorder them, and set up subpages.

1. Design:
   

• Customize the overall design by clicking on the “Design” icon on the left toolbar. You can change the site background, add custom fonts, and more.

Step 4: Add Features and Apps

1. Wix App Market: Click on “App Market” on the left toolbar to browse and add apps to your site. These apps can add functionality like contact forms, booking systems, chat features, etc.
   

2. Add a Blog:

• If you want to add a blog, click on “Add” > “Blog.” This will create a blog section where you can manage posts, categories, and more.

• Customize your blog layout and design.

• Add new blog posts by clicking on the “Blog Manager” and then “New Post.”

Step 5: Set Up SEO

1. SEO Basics:

• Click on “Settings” in the top menu and then “SEO (Google).” Here you can set up basic SEO settings like site title, meta description, and keywords.

1. Advanced SEO:

• Use the SEO Wiz provided by Wix for a step-by-step guide to improve your website’s SEO.

Step 6: Mobile Optimization

1. Mobile View:

• Click on the “Switch to Mobile” icon at the top of the editor to see how your site looks on mobile devices.

1. Edit Mobile Site:

• Make necessary adjustments to ensure your site is mobile-friendly. You can hide elements, resize text, and more.

Step 7: Preview and Publish

1. Preview:

• Click the “Preview” button at the top right to see how your site will look when live.

1. Make Adjustments:

• If needed, go back to the editor to make any final changes.

1. Publish:

• Once you’re satisfied with your site, click the “Publish” button at the top right. Your site will go live and you’ll receive a free Wix domain (e.g., username.wixsite.com/sitename).

Step 8: Connect Your Domain (Optional)

1. Custom Domain:

• If you want a custom domain, you can purchase one through Wix or connect an existing domain.

1. Connect Domain:

• Go to “Settings” > “Domains” and follow the instructions to connect your custom domain.

Step 9: Manage and Update Your Site

1. Dashboard:

• Use the Wix dashboard to manage your site’s settings, view analytics, and more.

1. Regular Updates:

• Regularly update your site’s content to keep it fresh and engaging for visitors.
